This matte green has a glaze extremely similar to Weller's Bedford Matt and somewhat similar to Hampshire Pottery's cucumber matte green glaze. The glaze is thick and it thins out a little towards the bottom edge.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The only issues are a few very small pin point glaze pops and glaze misses.
There is some glaze thinning on the top lip and in the center of the vase on the back side are 2 glaze misses. These are common traits with most Zanesville Pottery pieces. The vase is unsigned but it is known as shape number 102. Usually these numbers are impressed into the bottom but this one does not have numbers.Zanesville has a clear beige sandy colored bottom as you can see. I guarantee this to be an original Zanesville Pottery number 102 Tobacco Leaf vase in their most desirable deep matte green glaze. This is a wonderful form and would look just fine in any early matte green art pottery collection. I'm sure it would look just fine on that Stickley bookcase.
