Here is a very nice William J Walley Pottery handthrown tall candlestick. Glaze with some red clay showing at the top. It measures 10 1/2 inches tall and about 4 1/2 inches in diameter at the base. It is in good condition with only small rim.
Chips repaired and no breaks, cracks, or firing flaws. Walley used a wide variety of glazes, more than the Grueby or. Potteries to whom his work is often compared. The pottery was located in West Sterling Massachusetts where he began in 1898, making everything by hand. A good piece of New England Arts & Crafts era art pottery.
