Stunning Rookwood Arts & Crafts Cabinet Vase XXVI 1926 #2591 Matte Ocean Green

  

The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. There are tiny stray marks visible in the dark glaze. This piece is 5-1/2" tall, 3-3/4" wide at the shoulder, and 2 wide at the top rim. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2591 and the production year XXVI (1926). Stilt marks are visible on the base.

This ovoid-shaped vase features a flared rim and a decorative band with an arts-and-crafts motif of daisies that encircles the shoulder. The detail of the daisies can just be made out under the thick glazes.

This gorgeous and unusual glaze combination is a matte, salmon-pink underglaze (visible on the base and on the interior of the vase) with a rich, matte ocean blue-green blended overdrip that has curdled beautifully on the piece creating depth and dimension. The piece shows very minimal wear from gentle use, and there are glaze drips on the exterior as well as pink glaze misses on the interior. The glaze at the top rim looks almost crystalline. Overall, the vase is very clean.
