Here is a beautiful Rookwood Pottery wax matte vase by one of their best artists, Kataro Shirayamadani. It has a tall baluster shaped form with stems, leaves, and red poppies all the way around against a curdled and shaded blue to pink to white to green ground.

It measures 9 3/8 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest. It's in great condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws.

Marks include the firms die-stamped RP mark, XXXIX for 1939, Kataro's vertical mark in characters, and shape number 8398. A perfectly fired example of Rookwood's pre-war era ceramics in superb condition.
