The top hole is 1 5/8 in diameter inside measurements. The vase displays a buttressed tapered form in which it is narrow at the top and wider at the bottom. It has a wonderful matte lightly mottled blue/green background glaze.
The vase is further accented with incised buttressed panels at the top that surround the vase. There are 3 of these panels.
The pattern appears to be. Stemmed wheat buds with long stems that reach to the bottom and the buds look very similar. I have seen this vase called a Peacock vase.I disagree as there is not Peacock eye so to say surrounded by feathers. The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed on the bottom with Rookwood's "Reverse RP and Sunburst Logo" along with the Roman numerals XX for the year of manufacture 1920. It also has the mold number "2136" just under the date. This pattern by Rookwood is not that commonly found and considered somewhat rare.
This is a wonderful arts and craft shape created by Rookwood. Those of you who collect arts and crafts design pottery will surely welcome this vase into their collection. It will look great on any Stickley, Arts & Crafts or Mission style furniture. CLEMENTS ANTIQUES OF NEW HAMPSHIRE STOREFRONT.
