This vase is done in one of Rookwood's very pleasing matte yellow glaze. The vase is a nice size as it stands 5 3/4" tall and is 5" at its widest point or the shoulder of the vase. The vase has a tapered Grecian urn form with a beautiful Arts and Crafts pattern of stylized flowers and leaves inside a band. There is a band above and below.
The neck of the vessel has an Indian Influence pattern giving it that added southwestern flair. This is set against a very pleasing matte yellow background glaze. The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The vase is signed with Rookwood's impressed reverse "RP" and sunburst logo along with the Roman numerals "XXVI" for the year of manufacture, 1926.
There is also the mold number "2865" impressed under the date. This will make a wonderful addition to any matte art pottery collection and would look just great on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts style bookcase. Truly an excellent example in both form and color. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy.
