A most exciting and Rare find!! Offered is an early California arts and crafts pottery bowl and matching flower frog. George Poxon started his pottery in 1912 in Vernon California, then an industrial suburb of South Los Angeles. In their early days Poxon produced ceramic tile and a limited amount of art ware and vases. Fire was a common hazard of pottery companies and their facility partially burned down in 1927.

Struggling to rebuild through the early years of the Great Depression.. Bennison in 1931 who renamed the company Vernon Kilns.. And so they started that great pottery dynasty! Offered is a Lovely low bowl with matching frog rendered in an exquisite display of variations of green in a sublime matte finish.

Wonderful painterly style in the application of glazes. Layered with great subtleties with drips and mottled textures. George Poxon was well known for his glazes. Dimensions: Bowl 8 1/4" across x 2 7/8" high frog.

3 1/2" x 1 1/4". The bowl is in amazing antique condition.
