Ouachita Pottery Hot Springs rare dogwood carved matte green vase arts & crafts

  
Here is a rare Ouachita Pottery vase made in Hot Springs Arkansas in the early 1900's. It has carved decoration if dogwood flowers, leaves and branches under a deep matte green glaze similar to that used by Merrimac or Grueby.

Arthur Dovey, later of the Niloak pottery, devoloped a swirl ware at Ouachita. Die-stamped Ouachita Hot Springs Ark.

And initialed MD, presumably the artist. It measures 4 1/4 inches tall and 5 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest. It is in great condition with no. Chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws, just a small bump in the clay on the side under the decoration.. A super rare piece of Southern Arts & Crafts art pottery.
