The tile is in excellent, like-new condition with no chips, no cracks and no repairs with only some very minor crazing and peppering in the glazes (especially in the background glaze). As a side note, the peppering in the background glaze is black. Light reflection from the photos make it appear white.
This piece is 8" x 8" square and is almost 3/4 deep. The back of the pottery tile is stamped with the impressed Rookwood Pottery flame mark and the production year MMXII (2012).
The "Tree of Life" tile was originally featured in the 1912 Rookwood Pottery catalog and is thought to have been designed around 1907. This tile features blue and green foliage on the tree, a brown background and a yellow-ochre colored "frame", all done in semi-matte glazes. Check out all 7 photos! This stylish and heavy decorative tile would look amazing framed on your wall or simply in your favorite display cabinet. It would also be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector.
