Nice Antique Weller Pottery Arts Crafts Early Breton Matte Green Bowl Jardiniere

  
This stunning bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. There are some glaze drips and tiny glaze pinholes along with some stray scuff marks from gentle use. This bowl is 4-1/4" tall, 7-1/2" wide at the shoulder, and 5 wide at the mouth. The bottom of the pottery is unglazed and unmarked but is identified (and pictured) in "The Collectors Encyclopedia of Weller Pottery" by Sharon and Bob Huxford as being from Weller's Breton line, circa 1920s.

Stilt marks and a stray pencil mark are visible on the pedestal base. The Breton line is distinguished by a frieze of flowers, leaves and branches encircling the shoulder. The rich, matte glaze is a darker cucumber-green drip glaze that accentuates the mold detail beautifully. The bowl is relatively clean both inside and out.
