Here is a beautiful Newcomb College Pottery floral vase in their signature matte blue green glazes. There are well carved sprays of what look like feverfew flowers with yellow centers repeated 6 times around against deep blue vertical channels.
A semi-matte transitional period glaze execution. It is in excellent condition with only a faint crazing line over the edge of the top of the rim, and no chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws. It measures 5 1/4 inches high and 4 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest point. Marked with the firm's die-stamped NC mark, JM for the potter Joseph Meyer, AFS for decorator Anna Frances Simpson, and date code EY67 for 1912. A fine example of the quintessential southern art pottery.
