Newcomb College Pottery matte blue green holly candlestick SI 1923 Arts & Crafts
Here is a beautiful Newcomb College Pottery holly decorated candlestick with matte glazes, pink berries, green leaves and a blue ground. It has a good contrast and color color. It measures 7 3/8 inches tall and 4 1/8 inches in diameter at the base. It is in great condition with only a few small flakes at the foot ring and no chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs. Marked with the firm's die-stamped NC mark, a conjoined SI for artist Sadie Irvine, date code NP68 for 1923, the potter's mark JM for Joseph Meyer and the original paper label "designs are not duplicated". A really nice and unusual example of the quintessential Arts & Crafts southern art pottery.
