Near-Mint Mid-Century Rookwood Pottery Arts Crafts Cabinet Vase LVI 1956 #6431

  
The piece has a classic arts-and-crafts motif of lilies encircling the body of the vase along with a collared rim. This vase is in excellent, near-mint condition with no chips, no cracks, only very-minor crazing, and no repairs. Apologies in advance for the light reflections in the photos. This vase is approximately 3-1/2" tall, 4-1/2" wide at the shoulder, and 2-3/4 wide at the mouth. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 6431 and the production year LVI (1956).

The base is also incised with a tiny, rare hand-stamp mark, ROOKWOOD, CINTI, O. " Rookwood would later include this "new mark in their molds in the mid-1950s.

This gorgeous glaze is a high-gloss, chocolate-brown color also known as wine madder. The glaze beautifully accentuates the mold detail. There is no damage to this beautiful vase with only the beginnings of crazing in the glaze from age at the base.
