Here is a very nice Marblehead Pottery decorated trivet tile with an incised design of a central puffy tree, flanked by tall tree trunks. This is an iconic Marblehead tile design done in unusual heavily curdled colors of matte gray with a blue green tint against a speckled warm gray ground. The pottery was founded in Massachusetts by Dr Herbert Hall, run by Arthur Baggs, and dates to about 1915. It has glazed edges so was made as a trivet rather than an architectural tile.
It measures 6 1/4 inches square and 1 inch thick, weighing about 2 1/2 lbs. It is in great condition with nothing visible on the face, only a small chip to one back edge corner and one teeny tiny nick to a corner and one to an edge, and no big chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws.
