Marblehead Pottery 9 1/8 large undecorated matte blue ovoid vase arts & crafts

  

Here is a very nice Marblehead Pottery big vase in their classic ovoid "football" shape. It is covered in a smooth and even dark matte blue glaze that they called "Marblehead Blue", with a pale robin's egg blue on the interior.

This piece measures 9 1/8 inches tall and 5 1/4 inches in diameter at the widest, quite large for Marblehead. It is in good condition with only a tiny nick to the outer foot edge and no chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws.

The pottery was founded in Massachusetts by Dr Herbert Hall, run by Arthur Baggs, and dates to about 1915. A beautiful piece by a great New England Arts & Crafts art pottery.
