Rare Mid Century Brutalist Art Pottery Vase by Jan Nolf of Belgium. Mostly know for trays and wall plaques, this is the first vase that I have ever seen that was produced by him. The vase features a thin neck followed by a large rounded center body followed by a tapered base. The glaze is a thick blue-green color.
The face is a brutalist style grimacing face with shown teeth. The face is done in colors of golden yellow, black and white. It is marked on the bottom Jan Nolf Brugge and dated 1957. The piece is very rustic. There are no chips or cracks, but there are a few glaze pops and a few glaze misses around the base. The vase measures about 15 inches tall with a top opening of 1 inch in diameter. The base measures 4.75 inches in diameter.
