The matt gray pachyderm weighs over seventy five pounds and measures approx 17" inches tall and the base measures 20" inches long by 8 wide. The Elpehant is in excellent+ condition with some very light pitting on his spine. Please see photos of chipping. I have had this Teco Elephant since 1988 when it was given to me by Marge Schott.

Marge was a member and stopped in the club a couple of times a month while I worked at the casual dinning room called The Loft. Marge would usually be by herself and drink at the bar. She was very kind to me as she was to many young people she crossed paths with.

We had a mutual affection for the Reds, Animals, and antiques. On numerous occasions Marge became a little too tipsy to drive and I ended up driving her home to Indian Hill on the East side of Cincinnati. Marge and her late husband Charlie accumulated a massive collection of Art, antiques, and art pottery including rare artist signed Rookwood Pottery. On one visit to to her home she surprised me with this elephant as a gift for driving her home so many times. It was in a carriage house where she stored extra stuff, and told me it was a gift to her from a fellow Cincinnati Zoo board member in the early 1960's. Marge Schott's love of Elephants was on display for all in Cincinnati to see as they were used in the Findlay Market Opening Day Parade, and other functions at Cincinnati Reds games at Riverfront Stadium. I always thought it was Rookwood Faience architectural pottery, but recently realized it was Teco Pottery. Teco pottery was a favorite of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie School Bungalows. This is an incredible piece for any serious collector of Teco Pottery, or Cincinnati history. All questions will be answered.
