VTG Harry Hearne Raku Pottery Vase Turning Point Clay Studio 8.5 Tall Signed. GREAT Previously Owned Condition: No chips or cracks SEE PHOTOS. We are Harry Hearne and Julie (Fischer) Hearne. Harry Hearne has been a full time potter since 1990 working out of his own Turning Point Clay Studio. A fifth generation Floridian, born in St. Augustine, Harry received a masters degree emphasizing on Social Work and worked with refuge services in Washington DC before accepting an potter internship in Murfreesboro, TN. Since the beginning of his pottery career, Harry taught for five years at the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts and has conducted workshops at various colleges, universities, the John C. Campbell Folk School and at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. He also teaches Raku Kiln Building Workshops and has built Raku kilns for various schools and organizations. Harry's work focuses primarily on Raku firing techniques using classical forms and multiple glaze layers incorporating stained glass.

Harry is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild, Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild, Piedmont Craftsmen Guild and shows regionally at nationally juried shows. Harry is also a member of the Brasstown Morris Dancers, in Brasstown, NC. Julie Hearne is a West Virginian native, has lived in MD, TN and now NC. She started her clay career as a Studio Assistant for various throwing, Raku firing and Raku kiln building workshops at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and the John C. Campbell Folk School before joining Turning Point Clay Studio full time in 2008.

With a background in systems management, she uses her skills to manage the behind the scenes operation of their pottery business, manages websites, hosts an Airbnb guest suite and raises chickens. She is fortunate enough to live in a community where food is a craft and table fellowship a norm.

Julie's work focuses on garden sculptures and image transfer techniques. She enjoys remodeling houses and teaches weekly throwing classes in her studio. Julie is also a member of the Brasstown Morris Dancers, in Brasstown, NC.
