Handsome Antique Rookwood Pottery Arts & Crafts Cabinet Bowl XIX 1919 #2160

  

This piece has a beautiful, arts-and-crafts motif with Scottish roses encircling the bowl at the shoulder. The bowl is in excellent, near-mint condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. There are glaze skips and drips on the piece including a small glaze rub under the top rim. Glaze pops and pinholes are evident inside the bowl that create a whole new glaze design on the interior. The piece is just over 2-1/2" tall, 6-3/4" wide at the shoulder and 5-1/4 wide at the top rim opening.

The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2160 and the production year XIX (1919). The letter "P" appears on the base to denote a porcelain body, and stilt marks are visible. This gorgeous glaze is a matte, deep-blue underglaze with a blended indigo-blue overspray that has curdled beautifully on the bowl creating lots of texture and interest. The bowl is very clean both inside and out and is presumed to have been gently used. Check out all 10 photos!
