Here is a very good Grueby Pottery leaf and bud vase with 4 well tooled leaves around the bulbous bottom and 4 buds on stems reaching to the rim of this hand thrown form. It is covered in a nicely curdled medium dark green glaze which thins over the leaf edges and buds, highlighting the decoration. It is in good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or firing flaws, just the usual roughness and nicks to the leaf edges and a base ring pull from the kiln shelf which barely shows on the outside of the foot. Marked with the earlier Grueby Faience Boston USA die-stamp, and an incised MS for decorator Marie Seaman. It measures 7 1/2 inches high and 4 5/8 inches in diameter at the widest point.
