Eatured in this listing is an early, vintage flower vase made by the Brush-McCoy Pottery Co. The urn-shaped vase has a pedestal base and two angular handles. This piece is unmarked but has been identified as Brush-McCoy, shape #699, the "Empress" vase. This beautiful vase was probably made in the 1930s. It is in excellent condition with no chips, no crazing and no repairs.

There is a tiny hairline crack at the top rim just above one of the handles as well as a glaze separation from the firing process at the other handle. The base rim is hand-ground to be level and is unglazed. Inside the top rim edge is evidence of hand-shaping and minor glaze rubs. Inside, there are glaze drips and pinholes as well as tiny clay tags and some residual mineral staining from gentle use.

This matte finish is Brush-McCoy's "Art Vellum" glaze line. The vase is finished with a spectacular green drip underglaze that has been overdripped with gray to create a striking finish. There are also tiny glaze pops and minor stray marks on the vase. It is 4-1/4" tall, 4-1/4" wide at the top rim, and almost 6-1/2 wide at the handles. Check out all 10 photos!

This piece would make a beautiful addition to any American art pottery or Brush-McCoy Pottery collection. Check out my other pottery listings! Please let me know if you have questions.
