I have a wonderful vase that is influenced by by the arts and crafts movement. The vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 4 9/16" tall and is 5 5/8" in diameter. The bottom has a diameter of 3. The vase has a tapered orb or rose bowl shape with a flared rim. It has a wonderful Arts and Crafts theme of hand carved Ginkgo leaves.
There are 3 of these Ginkgo leaves surrounding the vase proportionately. These are set against a wonderful cucumber matte green glaze that is extremely similar to Hampshire Pottery's matte green glaze. The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The vase is signed on the bottom with the impressed "EPHRAIM POTTERY" along with U. In a circle cipher mark.
It also carry the artist Ken Nekola cipher. It is to my understanding that this form is a retired form by Ephraim Pottery.
Further research has yielded that this vase was known as shape #244 titled "Falling Ginkgo Vase" in the Ephraim catalog. It was introduced in 2004 with only 488 ever being made.It was retired in August 2005 per (Ephraim Faience Pottery Historical Catalog Listing). CLEMENTS ANTIQUES OF NEW HAMPSHIRE STOREFRONT.
