Here is a very nice Dedham Pottery vase hand thrown by Hugh Cornwall Robertson. It has a speckled celadon gray green glaze decorated with plants in gray and tan dripping over the heavy baluster form.
It measures 8 3/8 inches in tall and 4 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest. Marked with a hand incised Dedham Pottery mark. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws, just the typical clay shrinkage lines and grinding chips to the foot and a few small glaze misses. Hugh Robertson was fascinated by Asian ceramics and glazes, in particular the Chinese oxblood red. Often called experimental, this work is really Hugh's true art pottery and the famous crackle dinnerware was made to keep the firm afloat.
An good piece of Dedham with an unusual glaze. This item is in the category "Pottery & Glass\Decorative Pottery & Glassware\Vases". The seller is "jmwpots" and is located in this country: US.
