Hugh Robertson was fascinated by Asian ceramics and glazes, in particular the Chinese oxblood red. Often called experimental, this work is really Hugh's true art pottery and the famous crackle dinnerware was made to keep the firm afloat. It measures 9 inches in tall and 6 inches in diameter at the widest. Marked with a hand incised mark, BW, and a conjoined HCR. There is professional restoration to the foot and a kiln kiss on the body, but is otherwise in good condition with no chips or cracks. An nice piece of Dedham with an excellent glaze.
