Here is a fine and rare Theophilus Brouwer "flame painted" small pitcher with a snake-like upright handle. Glaze painted while being fired in iridescent tones of gold, green, yellow and brown. Made in East Hampton or Westhampton Long Island New York sometime between 1894 and his death in 1932. It measures 3 1/2 inches high to the top of the handle and about 3 7/8 inches across. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs.
It is marked with his incised whalebone cipher surrounding an M and Brouwer. A beautiful example of this hard to find Arts & Crafts art pottery.
