For your consideration is a handsome and quite large wheel thrown and hand built vase in the style of the ARTS AND CRAFTS PERIOD. It was crafted by a master potter from San Diego, California, DAVID CUZICK. Cuzick is the past president of the San Diego Potters Guild and has taught ceramics at 4 different colleges and universities for almost 50 years. This vase is much more complex than the usual Arts and Crafts piece in that the flowers and leaves are all hand shaped and quite detailed in shape and texture.
The flowers are in the shape of stylized'Miner's Lettuce' which is a native plant in San Diego's mountain areas. The leaves wrinkle and twist off the surface as if they are alive. The top area is heavily textured as are the body and leaves. The title of this piece'Monet's Special Vase'.
It is in perfect condition and is signed and dated by the artist. This is a substantial piece at almost 6 1/2 pounds and is 11 3/4" height x 4 1/2" Diameter. Photos 5 - 12 are some other listings I have showing work by Marguerite Wildenhain, David Leach, F. Carlton Ball, David Stewart, and more pieces by David Cuzick.
