Antique Rookwood Pottery Arts & Crafts Cabinet Bowl XX 1920 #957C Matte Blue
This heavy piece has a classic arts-and-crafts rose bowl shape. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. The piece is just over 3" tall, 8" wide at the shoulder, and 6-1/4 wide at the top rim opening. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 957C and the production year XX (1920) with stilt marks visible on the base. This gorgeous glaze is a rich, matte blue underglaze with a darker blue or indigo overdrip that has curdled beautifully on the piece. There are tiny pinholes in the glaze and an occasional glaze skip. At and inside the top rim, there are glaze skips and streaks. The bowl is relatively clean both inside and out and has some minor scuffing from gentle use. Check out all 8 photos! This lovely cabinet piece would be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector. Check out my other pottery listings! Please let me know if you have questions.
