This superb vase stands 6In. Tall and was made by aristocratic potter, Sir Edmund Harry Elton at his Sunflower Pottery Studio at Clevedon Court, Somerset, England circa 1890. He produced these exotic wares in very small numbers as individual pieces which were retailed at high class stores in England (Liberty, London) and America (Tiffany, New York) at exclusively high prices.
This impressive example is wonderfully glazed with rich and soft blue tones which flow together in a marble like design over which there are applied flower forms. A fine example from this rare pottery works. In very good original condition with one small chip on the rim and crazing (Photos: 9,10) that has been accounted for in pricing. The vase is clearly signed Elton on the underside.
