1920's Vintage Arts Crafts Deco Gouda Holland Regina Lotus Glazed Vase Antique

  

Regina twin handled vase (mould 57) in a vibrant pattern, Lotus (103). This style, (plateel) of Regina pottery dates from the 1920's.

Plateel is a certain type of ceramics (earthenware). The decor or motif is painted by hand by a "potter" on the item before it is baked the second time. This earthenware vase is hand painted and glazed in a matte satin finish. The Regina company, Kunstaardewerkfabriek Regina, was founded in 1898, the year Queen Wilhelmina was coronated. This vase has an ART DECO abstract floral motif in a palette of bright contrasting colours against a matte black and deep blue background.

B signifies Van der Want and Barras after Gerret Frederik Van der Want , the son of Pieter Jacobus Van der Want, the owner of a Gouda earthenware pipe factory and George Anthonie Barras , a Belgian Antique dealer. Vase measures approximately 6 1/2 " tall, 7" across with an opening of 1 1/2. No chips, cracks or damage.
