For Sale is a lovely Vase made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Cornish" and it is extremely popular among Weller Pottery Collectors. The Shape is a double handled rarer "Bulbous & taller of the pattern line vases" The Vase stands 7.75" tall and is 4.25" in diameter outside handles measurement, but middle of body is 5" wide The top opening is 2.5" mouth, slightly flared out, with a base of 2 & 3/8th's.
Vase displays a slightly bulbous shape w/mock handles that look like ears. However it is very sexy & the glaze even feels nice as well!! It has a very pleasing matte mottle Blue background glaze.
The Vase has embossed leaves with a stem and berries hanging from the concentric ring that surrounds the neck of the vessel on the front side. The leaves have an outstanding Green Brown life like Glaze. The berries are a deep blue and cranberry. The back side is plain and displays this wonderful Blue Mottled Glaze. Vase is considered to be in excellent++ condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings.The Vase is signed on the bottom with the incised Script "Weller" cipher. Also there is a distinctive "A" in a nice size in black right under the WELLER script & Glaze! Not sure about still looking in our WELLER books, anyone out there in "WELLER" land, if you know about please enlighten us! Those of you who collect this Weller pattern will not find a better example of this rarer pattern form or Glaze. The vase shows minimal use, dusted off for pictures after living in the same cabinet w/its fellow Weller friends, this Vase is as clean inside as it is outside. Really, looks like it just left the factory!! This Vase was made Circa early 1930....
