Van Briggle 1907-12 Arts and Crafts Matt Green Calla Lily Vase #636. The Van Briggle Art Pottery was the oldest continuously operating art pottery in the United States, having been established in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1901 by Artus and Anne Van Briggle. Artus had a significant impact on the Art Nouveau movement in the United States, and his pottery is foundational to American Art Pottery. The Art Nouveau style favored by its founders continues to influence the pottery's designs. Here we have an excellent example of a 6 1/4 inch tall vase with calla lily molded leaves.

Outstanding application of a matt green on a chocolate clay body. This combination almost makes it look like it has copper on it. Although not dated, most chocolate brown clay examples are from 1906-07. Although there is a date range on this piece of 1907-12, we believe this piece to be from around 1907. It is difficult to come by chocolate clay pieces with such an outstanding matt green glaze, so here is your chance to add to your collection.

Exceptional piece for any collection. Exceptional vase in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze, Free from crazing.

I cannot detect any repairs or modifications. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. All pictures are original and un-edited. Measurement Height: 6 1/4 ", Outer Rim: 2", Base: 3 1/8 ID K2778g Although he was a talented painter who had displayed and won awards in Europe, from 1899 until his death Artus devoted himself almost exclusively to the craft and art of pottery. Van Briggle's Art Nouveau designs and distinctive matte glazes were awarded high honors from prestigious sources, including the Paris Salon, the Saint Louis Exposition, the Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition, and the American Arts and Crafts Exhibition in Boston.

The Van Briggle Pottery Studio closed in spring 2012. Any product you return must be in the same condition you received it and in the original packaging.
