Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely pair of elephant bookends made by the Monmouth Pottery in the late Arts & Crafts period.
The elephants have a matte finish with an attractive gray-green micro-crystalline glaze and are positioned on platform bases. The bases are nicely covered with clean, brown felt which we have chosen not to remove to see if they are marked. The Monmouth Pottery Company was established in 1894 in Monmouth IL and became part of the Western Stoneware Company in 1906. Measures 4" high with the bases measuring 6" long and 3 1/2 wide. Combined weight is 3 pounds. These nice bookends are in very good to excellent Estate condition with the only noted flaw being one very small chip on the bottom edge of one base.
