Here is a very nice Merrimac Pottery vase with a flared rim. Glaze on a good form. Merrimac used a wide variety of glazes, as many as the Grueby or Walley Potteries to whom the work is often compared. The pottery was located in Newburyport Massachusetts and only made art pottery from 1900 to 1908. Signed with the firm's sturgeon fish die-stamp. It measures 5 1/8 inches tall and 3 3/8 inches in diameter at the widest. In excellent condition with no repairs.

Chips, cracks or firing flaws, just the typical in the making stilt pulls and a glazed over dent to the rim. An unusual piece of New England Arts & Crafts era art pottery.
