Here is a really rare form Grueby Pottery vase with 5 well tooled leaves alternating with buds at the rim around the teardrop hand thrown form. A variant of the pear shaped form this has a very narrow neck that we have never seen before. It is covered in a well curdled matte green glaze which thins over the high relief of the leaf edges. It measures 7 1/2 inches high and 4 1/8 inches in diameter at the widest point. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs, just a couple typical tiny nicks on leaf edges, and a stilt mark touches the edge of the foot.

Marked with the earlier Grueby Faience Boston USA and a conjoined AL for decorator Annie Lingley. A perfectly fired example and a great form from the quintessential Arts & Crafts New England art pottery.
