Gorgeous Antique Rookwood Arts Crafts Cabinet Bowl XV 1915 #974C Yellow Ochre

  
This piece has an arts-and-crafts shape with an undulating motif encircling the shoulder of the bowl. This beautiful bowl is in excellent condition with minor stray scuffing from gentle use. There are no chips, no cracks, some crazing and no repairs; however, the piece does have some tiny glaze pops and pinholes as well as some minor peppering in the glaze. The piece is 2-1/2" tall, 5-3/4" wide at the shoulder, and 4 wide at the top rim opening.

The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 974C and the production year XV (1915). The stilt marks are visible, and the thick glaze on the base has been ground flat to level the piece. This gorgeous glaze color is a matte, yellow-ochre drip underglaze with just the faintest hint of green overspray.
