For your consideration, a very elegant, ORIGINAL Circa 1910 ROOKWOOD pottery vase. Classic Arts & Crafts shape, simple pattern around the top, but the extraordinary part of this piece is the glaze! It's in a "butter yellow" matte, with hints of turquoise around the incised areas, and (what I call) "peppering"- little black spots all around the rim and near the top. It's truly an impressive and understated piece. When you examine the glaze is when you can truly appreciate this piece.
Measures 6.25" in height, 3" in diameter, and clearly marked with Rookwood's logo and an "X" for 1910. Also impressed into the clay "952F"... In my research, the 952 shape was a blank used for painting in the high gloss that Rookwood also did at the time. I could find only one other matte glaze piece, and NONE with the pattern around the top.
I went through many books and cannot find a duplicate. Condition is FACTORY MINT: NO CHIPS, NO CRACKS, NO SCRATCHES, no damage or restorations.
There is overall minor crazing commensurate with being 109 years old. This vase has clearly been pampered and handled carefully over the last century+! Thank you for your interest. The item "Butter Yellow Gorgeous ROOKWOOD c.
