Being offered is a vintage American art pottery pitcher which could be used as a vase. The bottom is glazed over showing the tripod marks characteristic of ealry art pottery including Van Briggle. If held at the right angle and lighting you can make out a part of the company logo, and beneath that you can make out the letters "ggl". The pitcher show glaze crazing and hairlines. The pitcher body is intact with no chips or cracks. The hairlines are in the glaze and not the clay body. During the arts and crafts period, there were not that many companies that had their bottoms glazed over, but other companies that come to mind are Wheatly, Markham, Grueby, and Teco, that I can remember. 7 1/8 tall, the top opening is approx.
2 wide and the bottom is approx. The glaze color is a deep navy blue with a cream colored glaze at the upper portion. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about my items.
