Antique Roseville Matt Green American Pottery Vase Fern Dish Arts & Crafts 320-9
Roseville Arts & Crafts Era Pottery Bowl Description and Item Information Up for sale is this antique Roseville art pottery vase or bowl from the Matt Green line. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This three-handled piece has a gorgeous matte green glaze with a curdled texture. It stands approximately 3 7/16 inches tall, and it has a maximum diameter of about 8 7/8 inches.
Unpacked, it weighs 3 pounds 0.4 ounce. This pot would be a fine addition to an arts and crafts or mission style decor. Identification This unmarked bowl is Roseville pottery from Ohio, shape 320-9 This fern dish shape, in a smaller size, is shown on page 94 of Mark Bassett's Understanding Roseville Pottery.
It is identified by Bassett as part of the Matt Green line, circa 1908. Condition The bowl looks very good overall, with very light wear and no chips, cracks, or repairs. When I bought this bowl, the interior had some water etching (not hard water stain deposits) which imparted a whitish appearance. I cleaned the interior thoroughly, and applied a paste wax to which a small amount of water-based green ink was added.
This deepened the color of the interior and improved the appearance. Tripod stilt marks beneath are as made; excess glaze was ground off of the base at the factory, as made. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
