Regina twin handled vase (mould 57) in a vibrant pattern, Lotus (103). This style, (plateel) of Regina pottery dates from the 1920's.Plateel is a certain type of ceramics (earthenware). The decor or motif is painted by hand by a "potter" on the item before it is baked the second time. This earthenware vase is hand painted and glazed in a matte satin finish. The Regina company, Kunstaardewerkfabriek Regina, was founded in 1898, the year Queen Wilhelmina was coronated. This vase has an ART DECO abstract floral motif in a palette of bright contrasting colours against a matte black and deep blue background.
